Hi there! My name is Lauren Catangui, and I am the current President of Alpha Xi Delta – Rho Chapter. My major is Marketing, my minors are Merchandising and Economics, and am also taking classes for an Advertising concentration. It’s quite a mouth full, but it’s all fun and kind of blends together! I am from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where I figure skated for 13 years and graduated from O’Gorman High School in 2011.
As President, I lead chapter meetings and communicate with Fraternity Headquarters and our Corporation Board. I am always available to listen to any issues and ideas the members of the chapter may have. I try to help them in anyway that I can, because I know they would do the same for me!
In joining Alpha Xi Delta, the most important things I can tell you are not the reasons why I joined, but the reasons why I stayed. Never have I ever felt more supported and welcomed by a group of people than the women I have met in Alpha Xi Delta. I had a rough start to college when my aunt lost her battle to cancer, but my new sisters helped me in ways beyond what I could have ever expected. Throughout my college experience, my sisters have inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone to join other organizations and take on leadership positions. I never imagined that I would be where I am today, and I know I have my parents, this university, and especially Alpha Xi Delta to thank. I am so happy and incredibly proud to be a part of this sisterhood.
